Women writing Romanticism

"I believe [...] that one acts unjustly against the female sex",

remarked the author Sophie Tieck in a letter to her brother Ludwig in 1793. Even in the Romantic period, literary texts by women writers often remained undiscovered and anonymous. In many cases, their contributions disappeared behind the names of more famous men, who then collected praise for the literary achievements of the female authors.

On this tour, you can discover the literature of women in the Romantic period. There are several QR codes in the museum that provide insights into the literary experiments of women authors. Can you uncover this hidden literature? Follow the signs, find the symbol, scan the QR codes and be surprised! Have fun on your discovery tour!
