Weimar

At first glance the portraits of the brothers Carl August and Constantin appear similar. Both wear shades of grey-blue, the Order of the White Falcon, and wigs. But the younger Constantin has greater freedom: more delicate and more casual in his pose, he busies himself with a portfolio of drawings, and drawing implements and paper lie on the table in front of him. The duchess had her sons given a comprehensive musical and literary education and brought Christoph Martin Wieland to Weimar to educate the princes.
