Clemens Brentano chose the main subject of the title page illustration for the second volume of The Boy’s Magic Horn.
He also had the idea of adding Heidelberg Castle in the blank space behind the drinking horn. The initial sketch was finalized by Wilhelm Grimm. Brentano had precise ideas about the size and arrangement of type on the title page, and gave the publisher detailed instructions – along with a small sketch for illustrative purposes.
