Romanticism Exhibition

A year has passed since the happy time

The eyes soft sky
Shines, as before, clear and pure.

The cheeks' delicate blush
Glows and blooms, as it once did.

So smiling is the pair of lips,
His word as sweet as it was.

The bosom is as white as ever,
Time took nothing from its snow.

Body, foot and hand show themselves,
Just as I found them before.

The beauty, the loveliness,
Is today, as it was then.

Only faith is robbed from me,
With which I once believed in you.

The pure glory alone,
That faith gives, is no longer yours.

One look, just one, has destroyed
What is no longer yours.

And if thou liv'st forever,
Never wilt thou, what thou wast, be to me.

My heart, as an altar, embraced
Thee, deity once, now - beautiful thing.
